Grammar Exercise 1: Present simple is, am, are

Is, am, are forms present formed sentences. They can be main verb, linking verb or auxiliary.
1. As main verbs, after each is compliment. Ie: That is a buiding (noun), She is a teacher.
2. As linking verbs, after each is always adjective. Ie: The book is rare. Some exercises are extremely easy.
3. As auxiliary in passive sentence, after each is participle verb.
Ie.: The book is bought by him.
An interesting  topic is being presented by that group.

Note well that some expressions: some/half/most do not distract the object of noun phrase. Example: Some of the student in the class is very helpful.

Let's practice the use of is, am, are by filling the gaps below. Then find out whether they are in form 1, 2 or 3.

1. She ... a new artist.
2. Going to college ... important.
3. The students'  favorite lecture ...going to begin.
4. That tree ... holed.
5. Some exercises ... very difficult for some students.
6. Some working students ... less-attentive during the lecture. It ... possble if they ... tired.
7. Some classes ... rescheduled because some lecturers ... incapable to attend them.
8. Some of important announcement ... still vague.
9. Tasks listed by the lecturer ... uneasy.
10. Many people ... interested by the show.
